Dana trained in mathematics at Vanderbilt University and obtained an MSc in Statistics at University of British-Columbia in 2001. Dana has contributed to many articles in statistics and high-throughput molecular biology and is a skilled programmer in R, S-plus, SAS and Perl. He left the group in October 2007 to work in the private industry.
